APT Hanoi 2022 ME Day 1A: Ritwik Khanna, Rubin Labroo In Top 2

While there’s only a week left for the World Series of Poker 2022 (WSOP), on the other side of the world, the Asian Poker Tour (APT) is keeping the poker action going with its APT Summer Festival Hanoi. The series’ Main Event which has a VND 5 Billion guarantee will be running from 14th to 19th July at the Vietnam Series of Poker (VSOP), Hanoi, Vietnam. The first three days will host the starting flights which will then be followed by Day 2, Day 3, and the final table with eight players.

Khanna bagged and tagged his way to Day 2 with 166,700 chips (208 BB) while Labroo had the second highest chip stack of 161,700 (201 BB). Both the players have now made it to Day 2 of the event and will be in contention for the APT Summer Festival Main Event title. Incredibly both players were also active on the online felts and Labroo shipped the ITM Thursday Supersonic on Spartan Poker for ₹3,96,562 while Khanna was the runner-up in the same event for ₹2,67,000.

The day ended with 23 survivors moving on to Day 2 out of the total of 67 entries. While Khanna and Labroo from the Indian team made the cut, APT Vietnam Hanoi Loyal 2022 Main Event winner Shardul Parthasarathi did not get through. However, there is still hope for Parthasarathi as there are two more starting flights left. One more Indian to make it to Day 2 was Yashwanth Thuti who progressed with 68,900 chips.

As one of the series’ top attractions, the Main Event is a deep structure event with slow escalating blinds that give players plenty of playing time. The buy-in of the Main Event is worth VND 22,000,000 (~ $940). Players will start off with a stack of 25,000 chips and the opening blinds are 50/100. The blinds will then increase every 60 minutes. As the registration period is open throughout the day, there is no limit to how many times a player can re-enter the tournament. There will be nine levels on Day 1 and players can continue to enter before the start of Level 12 on Day 2.

Flight Day 1B of the Main Event has already begun and Day 1C will take place on 16th July, Saturday at 11 PM. Day 2 of the event will be held on Sunday, 17th July.
