A severe accident resulted in the death of a 51-year-old Filipino maintenance worker at the Wynn Palace Hotel in Taipa. The worker suffered a cranial crush injury while working on mechanical equipment in the early hours of the morning.
The injured man was taken to the hospital immediately. Despite the quick response from the medical team, the worker succumbed to his injuries and passed away. After the incident, police and fire workers rushed to the scene. According to the fire department, the man was found on the plant room floor at the hotel.
An investigation was then conducted by the Labour Bureau. The preliminary investigation showed that the man had suffered a cranial crush injury while repairing mechanical equipment during a routine elevator maintenance round. The Labour Bureau stated, “For the safety of the workers, the employer has been notified to stop all work at the site of the accident and requested to submit an accident investigation report. The Labour Bureau will continue to investigate the cause of the accident and will pursue the responsible entities according to the facts of the investigation.”
Further details of the incident stated that the employee was doing a check on one of the elevator mechanisms, which was believed to be faulty. During the time of the accident, the man was communicating with one of his colleagues on a lower level who stopped the mechanism after hearing a strange noise.
As a response to the unfortunate events, Wynn released a statement acknowledging the incident. They stated, “A team member was involved in a fatal accident at Wynn Palace this morning, and we are currently cooperating with the authorities as they conduct their investigations.
We would like to express our heartfelt condolences to our colleague’s family, and we will extend our full support to them during this very difficult time.”
