This November, Asia is thrilled to be hosting major tournaments across Eastern countries. The Asian Poker Tour (APT) is underway in Vietnam attracting a great many players from India, Japan, Korea and beyond. And the 2019 Asia Red Dragon Jeju festival taking place at the Landing Casino, crowned the Main Event champion China’s Zhihao Zhang pocketing KRW 345 million prize money!

The entire tournament registered a strong field of 869 entries, with each chipping in KRW 2.5 million. As the tournament progressed, the top 108 players received a paycheck of minimum amount KRW 4.9 million, a share from a huge prize pool of KRW 1.89 billion. The final table saw 9 players entering the day with Zhang, chip leader from Day 3 with 45% of the chips in play.

The Main Event drew 20 different countries with 76% of the Chinese population followed by 7% from Japan and the rest being Taiwanese. Eventually, the final table saw Yifan Cao, Rongshan Li, and Zhenhua Lu, who had reached the second Red Dragon showdown. In a matter of an hour, the event saw final quick elimination reducing the field to the top 6 players pushing Wenyan Liu to 6th position by Ting Yi Tsai, Zhenhua Lu at 4th by Zhang.

After long hours of intense battle, the heads-up began, Zhang (9h 8d) was now playing against Tsai (Kc Jc). Flop, Jd 7h 3c, Tsai showed his top pair with King-Jack suited and Zhang had a gutshot with eight-seven. With Td turn, Zhang completed a straight and Tsai found himself drawing dead on the river card 4c. And that’s when the winner emerged victoriously, lifting the Red Dragon trophy.
