Wynn And Encore Casino Permitted 100% Occupancy

Last week, Gaming regulators allowed major casino operators along the Las Vegas Strip to have 100% occupancy. Several popular casinos, such as Wynn Las Vegas and Encore also recently removed the plexiglass dividers from their slot machines and table games. These two casinos were the first to get permission to operate at 100% capacity since the pandemic started. 

On Thursday, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said that the individuals who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 could resume work indoors and outdoors without wearing masks. Wynn and Encore Las Vegas consist of two luxury towers, resorts, and villas in Las Vegas. 

Wynn was granted permission by the Nevada Gaming Control Board. The casino proved to the board that 88% of its employees have been vaccinated with both doses. Only after that, Wynn’s properties have been allowed to operate at 100% occupancy. The brand also provided vaccines to its employees and spent nearly $250 million to ensure that all of them got vaccinated during the government mandated shutdown.

According to a report by Forbes, a spokesperson from Wynn said, “Our guests and employees will continue to follow all the safety guidelines.” Steve Sisolak, Nevada’s Governor, said that he wanted the whole state to reach 100% occupancy by June. Last weekend, the state also eased restrictions across all casinos in Las Vegas from 50% to 80% capacity.

It is still unclear if other casinos on the Strip have received permission to operate at 100% capacity. Wynn’s move to 100% occupancy is a welcome development in the right direction for the casinos on the Strip.

As per ABC News, nightclubs and entertainment venues were permitted to reopen on 1 May. Public gatherings and social distancing norms have also been reworked to 3 feet from 6 feet in the past. Social distancing rules will end when 60% of the eligible population has at least taken the first shot of vaccine.
