The World Series of Poker (WSOP) is a giant brand in the worldwide poker industry and is the touchstone of the industry, hosting high-stakes tournament series every year. It is often dubbed as ‘the biggest festival in poker’ and is held every year around June.

Caesars Interactive Entertainment, the parent company of WSOP brand has given us a sneak peak into the 2019 WSOP. The series is expected to be a gala of high-stakes tournaments studded along its schedule. The total prize pool is expected to cross $200 million!

The 2019 WSOP schedule will begin on 28th May and wrap up by 16th July 2019. The series will be a long haul of seven weeks and will take place at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas for the 15th consecutive year.

Since the schedule is still in the making, WSOP has released details of seven noteworthy events that players can look forward to. Due to the 50th anniversary occasion and in the spirit of novelty, WSOP has introduced a unique event, the $500 buy-in ‘golden event’ called the Big 50 NLHE. The unique feature of the event is that it will be rake-free for all initial entries and feature a starting stack of 50,000 and 50 minutes of levels and a prize pool guarantee of $5 million. The event will feature four starting flights running May 30 – June 2.

Ty Stewart, Executive Director of WSOP, said, “We’re excited to commence our golden event. We expect our opening weekend Big 50 event to be one of the largest in our history, and certainly one of the best value tournaments ever offered. This is part of our concerted plans to make the 2019 WSOP a better value all-around”. A celebratory awards evening will also be hosted on 29th June and it is expected to be an additional 50th anniversary themed affair.

Some of the finalized events are the $1,500 Millionaire Maker that has $1 million 1st place guarantee and will kick-off on 7th June. The 50+ year old Seniors NLHE will also be featured in the series on 13th June. Other favourites include Double Stack NLHEMonster Stack and Crazy Eights event.

The main attraction of the WSOP, the most awaited event of the series, will be the WSOP Main Event World Championship, will kick off with the first three flights on 3rd July. The buy-in will once again be at $10,000 with no re-entry and two-hour blind levels. 2018 WSOP ME’s 50,000 starting stacks will get an upgrade in 2019, to 60,000 starting stacks.
