WPT Vietnam: 5 Indians progress from Day 1B of Kickoff Event


The third edition of World Poker Tour Vietnam started off on 3rd of September at the Pro Poker Club in Ho Chi Minh City. With a comeback of WPT in Asia, numerous Indian participants have grabbed this opportunity to showcase their skills at the international stage.

WPT is a huge series taking place currently, drawing pro poker players from around the world. Vietnam has been a lucky target for individuals representing India. Likewise, Gagan Juneja succeeded to finish 3rd in the VND 8,800,000 Deepstack Hyper Turbo on the opening day.

A 9-day long series began with Day 1A of the Kickoff Event that saw the emergence of Indian duo, Jaideep Sajwan and Ashish Munot who made it to Day 2. The Kickoff Event had a total of 412 entries and revealed that 51 places will be paid with a minimum cash worth VND 29,911,200 (~INR 92k).

Gradually, the ultimate champion will take home a total of VND 1,396,989,000 (~INR 43.31 Lakhs). The event logged in 90 entries on Day 1A and 250 entries on Day1B. A huge turnout of 250 entries on Day 1B witnessed a massive number of Indian participations, out of which 5 made it to Day 2.

Akshay Nasa, well-known Indian poker star is in the lead with 569,000 chips, Akash Chandrashekhar with 284,000 chips. Rubin Labroo made his way into the top ten stacks of the day with 209,000 chips followed by Lakshpal Singh with 166,000 chips and Jayjit Ray bagging 69,000 chips.

  3. Akash Chandrashekhar – 284,000
  4. Sean Ragozzini – 237,000
  5. Huu Minh Tri Phan – 236,000
  6. Ngoc Khanh Le – 231,000
  7. Alvin Lam – 230,000
  8. Quang Minh Nguyen – 223,000
  9. Bial Miah – 211,000
  10. Rubin Labroo – 209,00
