WPT Prime Vietnam 2023: Alok Birewar Ships PLO Event!

India has secured its fourth World Poker Tour (WPT) Prime Vietnam 2023 title as poker pro Alok Birewar ships the PLO tournament (Event 29). This event had a buy-in of VN₫ 16,500,000 (~US$ 700) and paid the top 8 players.  Birewar shipped his career-third WPT title after winning the PLO tourney for a payday of VND 304,000,000.

In the heads-up clash Birewar locked horns with Singapore’s Jack Tey Sheuseng. The runner-up took home a pay cheque of VND 178,500,000.  This two-day event had 58 total entries (37 unique, and 21 re-entries). The final prize pool stood at VN₫ 843,900,000 (~US$ 35,950).

Talking about the Indian contingent at the WPT Prime Vietnam 2023 series, players like Avneesh Munjal, Amit Kaushik, and Shuchi Chamaria have nailed titles and made India proud.  Pros like Shardul Parthasarathi, Ashish Munot, IOPC Jan 2021 Main Event champ Laksh Pal Singh, PokerBaazi pro Muskan Sethi, Abhishek Jalan, J Raju, Akshay Nasa, Harsh Bubna, Dhaval Mudgal, Kanchan Sharma, Romit Advani, Anuj Yadav, Aditya Agarwal among others have marked their attendance at this marquee tournament series.

Coming to the PLO winner, Birewar has previously finished second in the WPT Prime Vietnam 2023 VN₫ 4.40 Million Hyper Turbo NLH event for a pay cheque of VN₫ 65.80 Million (₹2,31,353). He had also qualified for Day 2 of the Mystery Bounty tournament. The Indian pro who shipped the IPC Megastacks May 2022 100K High Roller finished 70th for a sum of VND 11,000,000 (₹38,676).

The much awaited series will run till 29th May 2023. Till then the search for more WPT titles will be on. It would be interesting to see if more Indian pros ship the coveted WPT trophy and bring home glory.
