WPT Prime To Hit Vietnam, Cambodia, And Taiwan First 

The World Poker Tour (WPT) announced that it will be launching a new global poker brand in 2022 named WPT Prime. The new poker brand will have its inaugural stops in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Taiwan. 

According to the announcement, the plan for the new WPT Prime will be to offer lower buy-ins while including the perks of WPT flagship events. These perks include entire event coverage from the WPT online content team, trophies for event champions, and the action clock which assists in keeping up the game’s pace. The main events from WPT Prime stops will also count towards the tour’s Player of the Year leaderboard which has $30,000 in rewards.

As per WPT’s announcement, “WPT Prime pairs the premier poker tournament experience of a WPT Main Tour stop with affordable buy-ins accessible to more players around the globe.”  

The first event of WPT Prime will kick-off in Vietnam from 19th to 30th May 2022. The event will be held at the Crown Poker Club in Hanoi.

After its first spot in Vietnam, the poker tour will host its next event in NagaWorld in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from 11th to 23rd August 2022. The tour’s final stop will be to the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association in Taipei, Taiwan from 11th to 21st November 2022.

With the launch of WPT Prime, poker enthusiasts will also bid goodbye to the WPTDeepStacks brand which made its debut in 2014 and was a mid-major staple. Cathy Zhao, WPT Senior Director of Global Tour Management, said, “Our continued efforts to improve the WPT live tournament experience will benefit more players than ever during Season XX.”

“WPT Prime is the embodiment of our goal to provide the best possible poker tournament experience to players everywhere, and our strong relationships with our global partners will elevate the WPT experience around the world,” said Zhao.
