WPT Alpha8: Ren Lin Ships The Title For Over A Million

Well-known pro from the international poker circuit, Ren Lin has shipped the coveted World Poker Tour (WPT) Alpha8 2023 event for a prize money worth $1,045,781. The current WPT events are being held at Wynn Las Vegas.

The events saw the who’s who of global poker participate and win top titles. While Lin nailed the top spot in the Alpha8 event, the 10-time Triton Poker Series champ Jason Koon turned runner-up. He had a payday of $669,300 for his second place finish.

This event saw 69 total entries and the prize pool stood at $3,346,500. The $50,000 buy-in tournament also saw participation from Justin Bonomo, Isaac Haxton, Seth Davies, Nikita Kuznetsov, Brad Owen, controversial player Martin Kabrhel, Biao Ding, Alex Foxen, Stephen Chidwick among others. 

The final table saw its first casualty in Bonomo who took a pay cheque of $108,761. The next in line to take the exit route was Haxton for $125,494. Eliminations kept up and finally heads up was set between Lin and Koon.

From the button position Jason Koon goes all-in for 2,350,000 and his rival requests for a count. Lin gets his answer and makes the call. Koon had J9o while Lin was playing with A2o.

The record-setting Triton Poker Series champ said, “If I win this one, I gonna win the whole thing.” Lin shot back saying, “So you gonna lose.”

The dealer fanned out a board of Q ❤ 5 ♣ 2 ♠ 7 ❤ T ♦ . The Deuce holds for Lin and he takes the title and trophy. Lin has been playing in the ongoing live poker season and finally managed to add a title to his name. 

Lin whose real name is Tony Lin also marked his attendance at World Series of Poker (WSOP) Paradise 2023 and cashed at the 20th spot at the WPT World Championship for over $200K.
