UPDATE
Dan Sepiol has won the WPT World Championship 2023 and is now the proud owner of the Wynn Championship trophy and the WPT World Championship trophy. He got the better of Georgios Sotiropoulos to walk away with the top prize of $5,282,954, with the rewards also including a $10,400 seat into next year’s WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas. Georgios Sotiropoulos, on the other hand, walks away with $4,167,246 for his second-place finish.
The World Poker Tour (WPT) started off its December 2023 bonanza with multiple events like The WPT Big One For One Drop, WPT Prime Championship and the WPT World Championship. Amongst those, the WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas is the most watched event. Starting on 29th November, the Championship event kick-started on 12th December 2023 and is in the business end of the event.
Boasting a buy-in of $10,400, the WPT World Championship 2023 at Wynn Las Vegas saw 3,835 players participating in the Main Championship event, with the prize pool sitting at $40 Million. After a lot of jam-packed poker action, the WPT World Championship is down to the final table, and we saw one of the craziest hands unfolding.
Playing Level 35 with 800K/1.6M, big blind ante 1.6M, the pot starts with Ben Heath raising from the hijack to 3.6 Million, while Dan Sepiol calls from the button. The board pops up K ♠ Q ❤ 5 ♣ as both players check for the turn card on the board to pop up T ♠. While Heath checks once again, Sepiol bets 3.5 Million, which receives an instant call for the board to pop out 8 ❤ as the river card.

Heath once again checks as Sepiol goes big to bet 12.6 Million, which once again gets a quick call which raises the pot size to 43.4 Million. Sepiol is fast to display his A ♠ J ♠ after getting the call to win the pot with an ace-high straight. Heath, on the other hand, mucks his cards.
It is also worth noting that this hand helped Sepiol take the chip lead on the final table of the WPT World Championship event 2023.
With the final 3 players left at the time of writing, aSepiol finds himself in the chip lead position with Andrew Lichtenberger in second place followed by Georgios Sotiropoulos. It would be interesting to see if Sepiol goes on to eventually ship the coveted title.
