The last marquee event at Asian Poker Tour (APT) Taipei 2023, the High Roller, has finally drawn its curtains. Natural8 ambassador Wongwichit Phachara has emerged victorious claiming the title, the APT trophy and the top prize of TWD 4,800,900 ($156,930).
The APT Taipei 2023 High Roller was a two-day event that took place on the 6th and 7th of May, 2023. The event witnessed a total of 302 entries generating a final prize pool of TWD 26,364,600 (~$861,000). This was distributed among the top 39 finishers who took home a min-cash of $5,940.
Thailand’s Phachara ultimately emerged as the top finisher after beating Tsz Him Chan in the heads-up. Although Chan entered the heads-up with the chip lead, the lead kept switching between the two players in the swingy heads-up.
During the final hand, Phachara had almost a 1:4 chip lead over Chan. Asserting his chip lead, Phachara raised all-in with his monster 24 Million stack after Chan called the blinds preflop. Chan, who was left with just about 6.1 Million, pushed his stack in the middle and flipped Q ♦ 9 ❤ , while Wongwichit had 6 ♣ 5 ♣.
