Among the poker players who have been playing steadily and moving ahead with solid ground is Saurabh Ramola. This enigmatic player spoke to Gutshot Magazine for a candid interview for its April 2021 edition. While talking about his poker journey and how began playing, Ramola candidly admits that his game is pretty straight-forward and ‘nothing fancy’ when we quizzed him about his go-to strategy.
Ramola further added that he kept true to his basics and looked for the right time to make his move. We also grilled this fine player who hails from Uttarakhand about downswings and how he deals with them. We have often heard stories of how poker players, including pros take a break from the game to work on their strategies while they experience a low in poker.
Ramola says, “Downswings are a part of the game. You can’t win all the time. People say that you should take a break when you’re going through a downswing, but I prefer to put in more volume when I am going through a downswing.”
The 30-year-old has a mature outlook when it comes to downswings. While we spoke about poker, strategies, downswings and more, we also asked this charmer about his mentor in the game. Aspiring poker players often look for a mentor to guide them through their journeys, Ramola found a mentor in his friend, none other than poker pro Guarav Sood.
This inquisitive player who was brought up in Delhi said, “Gaurav Sood is a very good friend of mine. He’s been giving me some time lately and I am really blessed to have him as my mentor. I wish to share a final table with him some day.”
We had previously put Guarav Sood on the cover of our e-magazine for the January 2021 edition. We hope Saurabh Ramola’s story proves to be a source of inspiration to the aspiring poker players in the country. Read Saurabh Ramola’s full story in our April 2021 e-magazine edition.
