Wednesday Roundup: Ashish Kumar Nails The Biggest Tournament ‘Destiny’ for ₹5,16,805


Wednesday night on the online poker felts was a low-key yet an action-packed night. With a handful of tournaments taking place, the players didn’t miss out on putting their best foot forward. Let’s have a look at what the night looked like.

Destiny – ₹24 Lakh GTD

Spartan Poker’s staple Destiny was the biggest tourney of the night. The tournament witnessed both poker pros and amateurs fighting for the top spots. The 508 entries generated a final prize pool of ₹25.40 Lakh. The top 50 places got a min-cash of ₹12,700.

Ashish Kumar aka ‘King$layer’ shipped this tourney for ₹5,16,805 to become the biggest winner of the night. Kumar is showcasing a good form on the poker felts and has been shipping crucial tourneys. He won Spartan Poker’s The Race and Wednesday Vibes on two consecutive days, apart from finishing in the money in other tourneys over the week.  

Myron Pereira aka ‘mehhhh’ finished second for ₹4,14,007, while anonymous player ‘Rishabh13’ walked away at the third spot for ₹3,70,937.

Vishal Bajaj (7th, ₹63,500), IOPC July 2019 Event #4 winner, Guruprasad Gupta Guruprasad Gupta (11th, ₹25,400), Arjanveer Singh Chadha (13th, ₹25,400), Rajeev Kumar (15th, ₹25,400), Vinayak Bajaj (20th, ₹21,590), Annant Jain (29th, ₹15,240), Vivekk Dube (32nd, ₹13,970) and The Ballers winner, Siddhanth Kripalani (42nd, ₹12,700) managed to make some money at this tournament.

Manish Lakhotia (54th), Abhishek Goindi, Abhishek Goindi, who was Gutshot’s November 2020 e-magazine cover  (63rd), WPT Vietnam Main Event winner, Dhaval Mudgal (66th), Arun Sriram (77th), Arsh Grover (79th), Vishnu Khandelwal (91st), Sahil Mahboobani (93rd), Sagar Choudhury (94th), Mohit Mehta (103rd), Ghanshyam Tripathi (123rd), The Big Deal winner, Rohan Bhasin (127th), Harshad Barve (135th), Surbhit Grover (137th) and Siddharth Karia (167th) were some players who left the tourney empty-handed.

Wednesday Vibes – ₹7 Lakh GTD

Spartan Poker’s Wednesday Vibes tourney made sure the players had an exciting night. The tourney which attracted 514 entries managed to gather a prize pool of ₹7.71 Lakh. A min-cash of ₹4,394 was paid to the top 47 places.

Shawn Jose aka ‘LoopreviL’ topped the table and added ₹1,35,013 to his bankroll. Vikk Sharma aka ‘Villainn888’ was the runner-up who took home ₹1,10,704 in prize money. Tarush Gupta aka ‘Tarush123’ finished third and had a payday of ₹71,548.

Millions winner, Manish Lakhotia (6th, ₹34,849), Utkarsh Vaish (12th, ₹11,410), FTS 2.0 Main Event winner, Siddharth Karia (13th, ₹11,410), Surbhit Grover (19th, ₹7,941), Superstack winner, Vivekk Dube (7,170), Siddharth Gangwar (27th, ₹6,399) and The Millionaire winner, Siddhanth Kripalani (28th, ₹5,628) made in the money. 

Ashish Kumar, who shipped this tourney last week, failed to make it even in the money at this week’s tourney. Rajesh Kumar (66th), Ajit Singh Arora (72nd), Vinayak Bajaj (79th), Ronuk Lekhraj (98th), Arun Sriram (102nd), Guruprasad Gupta (103rd), Meet Jariwala (108th), The Godfather winner, Sahil Mahbbobani (112nd), Highroller winner, Vishnu Khadelwal (127th), Aniket Waghmare (178th) and Peter Nazareth (182nd) also couldn’t make any money this tourney.

The  Pride – ₹10 Lakh GTD

PokerBaazi’s The Pride was a star-studded tourney. The ₹3,850 buy-in tourney attracted 299 entries to generate a final prize pool of ₹10.47 Lakh. The top 36 places were paid a min-cash of ₹7,116.

Online reg Arjanveer Singh Chadha aka ‘holdbaby’ emerged victorious as he won ₹2.31 Lakh. Amit Kaushik aka ‘quark’ finished second for ₹1.62 Lakh, while Aurkodyuti Das aka ‘ad87’ took home ₹1.04 Lakh by finishing third. 

Other notable players who made it in the money included online reg Manish Lakhotia (7th, ₹38,510), The Big Show winner, Vinay Rajpal (15th, ₹13,810), Tanmay Benara (23rd, ₹9,209), Anmol Narang (28th, ₹7,116), Vishnu Khandelwal (29th, ₹7,116), Rajneesh Thakur (31st, ₹7,116), Sagar Choudhury (32nd, ₹7,116) and Dhinesh Kumar (34th, ₹7,116).

Players who couldn’t make it in the money included Vivekk Dube (40th), Shagun Jain (51st), Ritwik Khanna (54th), Millionaire winner, Siddhanth Kripalani (57th), Nitin Arora (64th), Aman Parakh with seven re-entries (66th), IOPC July 2020 and January 2021 leaderboard champion, Bhanu Prakash (67th), Vinayak Bajaj (78th), Vikranth Varma (82nd) and Godfather 6.0 winner, Sahil Mahboobani (108th).

Maverick – ₹15 Lakh GTD

Adda52’s Maverick witnessed some of the best players in the poker business battling it out. This tourney featured a prize pool of ₹15 Lakh. The 63 players at this tourney were paid a min-cash of ₹3,750.

Abhijeet Kumar aka ‘2abhisingh’ shipped this tourney for ₹3,17,177. Prateek Pandey aka ‘ishuv’ finished at the runner-up spot and grabbed ₹2,82,823 in prize money. Aurkodyuti Das aka ‘ad87,’ who finished third at The Pride, finished at the same spot at this tourney too. He added ₹1,49,250 to his bankroll from this tourney. He had a payday of ₹2,53,250 from the two tourneys last night.

Anmol Agarwal (14th, ₹15,000), Gutshot Magazine’s June 2021 cover star, Siddhanth Kapoor (30th, ₹7,500), Vinay Rajpal (33rd, ₹6,750), Aman Parakh (43rd, ₹6,000), Amit Kaushik (46th, ₹5,250), Guruprasad Gupta (50th, ₹4,500), Deepak Bothra (52nd, ₹4,500), Millionaire Legends and Mastermind winner, Aniket Waghmare (56th, ₹3,750), Bharath Kumar (57th, ₹3,750) and Dheeraj Grover (60th, ₹3,750) were some players who cashed at this tourney.
