Vivek Rughani Wins DPT Colossus 50k Warm Up Event

The first ever DPT Colossus tournament series kicked off on 25th April 2018 and would see a total of 5 events take place across the 4 days of the series. The series began with the INR 50k buy-in Warm Up Event, and we reported news of one of India’s best poker pros, Aditya Sushant, leading the final 31 of that event.

Sushant wasn’t able to go on and ship that event, but it was Vivek Rughani who ended victorious. Rughani is an Indian pro who has final tabled several DPT (Deltin Poker Tournament) tournaments in the past, including a career best win of INR 10.76 lakh for finishing second in a High Roller event in 2016.

This time, he beat 61 entries to secure his first ever live poker title and took home the top prize of INR 9,05,800. Rughani was placed 15th in chips when he began Day 2 but his experience helped him climb the ladder and ultimately reach heads up, where he beat Bollywood actress and poker enthusiast Minissha Lamba.

Lamba executed quite a few eliminations on Day 2 and she would’ve been confident of winning the title as well, having entered heads up with the chip lead. Rughani eventually regained the lead and in what would be the final hand of the tournament, both players went all-in pre-flop. Rughani held A-J while Lamba was ahead with pocket tens. However, the board opened 6-A-5-J-9, giving Rughani two pairs and the INR 50k Warm Up Event title!

Adda52 Team Pro Nikita Luther went out on the money bubble, as the top 7 players were to be paid in this event. The minimum cash of INR 2,11,100 went to Sameer Chaturvedi. Check out the final results of the DPT Colossus opening event:

  1. Vivek Rughani – INR 9,05,800
  2. Minissha Lamba – INR 5,73,700
  3. Dhaval Mudgal – INR 4,52,900
  4. Sahil Agarwal – INR 3,62,300
  5. Manish Lakhotia – INR 2,71,700
  6. Meherzad Munsaf – INR 2,42,000
  7. Sameer Chaturvedi – INR 2,11,100

The INR 200k High Roller began on the next day, along with a couple of other exciting tournaments. Keep reading GutshotMagazine.com for a report on those tournaments as well.
