Vinayak Bajaj ships The Vegas on PokerBaazi

The Vegas is a popular featured online poker tournament on PokerBaazi, which recently had its guarantee bumped up to INR 10 lakh. It takes place on their platform every Wednesday night at 8pm, competing with top weekly tournaments that are hosted on other major Indian platforms.

Last night was another edition of The Vegas INR 10 lakh GTD and a total field of 290 entries (162 players + 128 re-entries) paid the INR 3,300 entry fee to be a part of the tournament. Even though the WPT India series is going on in Goa as we write this, the participation in this tournament was unaffected, and quite a few players were playing from the venue itself.

A total of 26 players from this field finished in the money with a minimum cash prize of INR 12,500, as the tournament continued until 2:43am this morning. Proceedings came to an end when Vinayak Bajaj was crowned champion at this time, playing under the screen name ‘salmanbhai’. No prizes for guessing which Bollywood actor he’s a fan of!

He had to get through a whole bunch of PokerBaazi regulars before he took down the title and the top prize of INR 2,02,500 last night. Some of these regular include Rajesh Kumar Shuka aka ‘intervntion’ who finished in 9th place for INR 22k and Aditya Sushant aka ‘gangajal’, who finished in 7th for INR 37k, just a couple of nights after he shipped The Bout on PokerBaazi, and the same night that he took down the WPT India 20k Kickoff title in Goa.

Sahil Mahboobani aka ‘ImHighIShove’ hit the rail in 4th place for a prize of INR 85k, while Ramlakhan Meena aka ‘Hitler’ exited the tournament in 3rd place for the first 6-figure payout of INR 1,15,000. Then began heads-up between Bajaj and ‘qazxsw2’, with the latter unable to get past Bajaj on the night and having to settle for INR 1,52,500 for finishing second.

Gutshot caught up with Vinayak Bajaj after he won The Vegas on PokerBaazi. He said, “I haven’t been playing tournaments lately, busy chasing some cash game leaderboards. I played a tournament after almost a month and it went smoothly. I played solid in the beginning, entered the FT placed 9/9, and then climbed up steadily till we were heads-up and chip leading. I lost control heads-up for some time but then took it down finally. Also, big thanks to PokerBaazi who are doing a wonderful job.”
