Video Of A Plane Making An Emergency Landing Turns Out To Be Fake

The internet is famous for making all kinds of videos go viral. While some of them are true, a majority of these videos are most often fake. Recently, a video regarding an emergency landing of a plane was uploaded on Facebook by a user who made it seem like it was a real incident. The short 15 sec video depicts the plane making a landing with its front wheels resting at the back of a pickup truck. The post was accompanied by the caption which reads, “This is how lives of 300 passengers are saved.”

While the video at first glance doesn’t seem to look very real, many people were thrown off-guard with the caption. Due to this the video went viral and many fact-checking sources were quick to debunk the entire thing. According to these websites, the video is actually a scene from the popular video game, Grand Theft Auto 5. Along with this, many other gaming enthusiasts have also uploaded the clip on YouTube and mentioned that it was from a game.

The post itself has received around 2,23,000 likes on Facebook with some comments also stating that it was not real and from a game. A YouTube video with the title ‘GTA5 – Giant Air Plane “Emergency Landing” on Highway — Two Engines Failed — (This is GTA5 game)’ has garnered over 90 million views and shows the exact scene from the game. (See below) This further proves that all the claims saying that the video was real were in fact not true. 

Similar videos have surfaced on the internet over the years, some of which seem convincingly real. However, it is always important to cross-check with sources before passing them off as true incidents. The original post on Facebook has already been flagged as fake content.
