Utsav Taneja wins another title – Spartan’s Big Daddy

Sometimes when you’re on a good roll, everything seems to go your way and that is especially applicable to online poker player Utsav Taneja at this point of time. It looks like he can do nothing wrong right now, having won another online poker title, yesterday shipping the Big Daddy INR 5 lakh GTD tournament on The Spartan Poker.

If you check out his prior wins in the last month, this was in comparison the smallest victory. He shipped the October 2.o.K on Spartan along with Sahil Rajwani for prizes of INR 15 lakh each and less than a week ago, he took his good form to PokerBaazi, where he shipped The Endeavour for another big bankroll addition.

Now, he completed the Big Daddy victory on Spartan, where he won the top prize of INR 1 lakh to go with the INR 30,000 package trip to Goa, which is what makes this tournament so popular. He will now fly to Goa for a chance to multiply these winnings and he managed all this with a buy-in of just INR 1,100!

The tournament began at 4pm yesterday afternoon and was all done and dusted by 8:52pm, when Taneja, who plays under ‘FindDaGrind’ on Spartan beat ‘LuckBoxingSkills’ in heads-up and the latter took away INR 70,000 for finishing second. They were the best players in the tournament, outlasting a total field of 463 entries.

It wasn’t a very long grind, ending by Level #38, with the blinds at 15,000/30,000 – 3,000. The top 36 players from the field were paid out a minimum cash prize of INR 3,250 but Taneja didn’t just want to walk away with a small prize. He dominated every other player and in the final hand of the tournament, his Nines and Sixes beat his opponent’s pair of Kings.

Along with Taneja, there will be plenty of other poker players from around the country who will be flying to Goa soon, with the much-awaited second edition of the WPT India series kicking off at the Deltin Royale tomorrow, 13th November.
