Poker players can rejoice as a new movie about gambling, poker and Las Vegas will be heading your way very soon. The film stars Vince Van Patten who is well known in the global poker community as being part of the commentary team at the World Poker Tour (WPT).
Titled ‘Walk to Vegas’, the film is based on a true story which is written by Van Patten himself and it’s about prop bets and Hollywood big shots who will bet on anything. Van Patten’s co-writer on the film is Steve Alper and the movie is directed by poker enthusiast Eric Balfour who is also an actor that you are seen in films such as Hellride and Skyline. Van Patten has also managed to rope in some of his poker friends to play a cameo in the film such as Jennifer Tilly, Phil Laak and Antonio Esfansiari.
Van Patten himself has been an actor, tennis player and of course his most famous role in poker is that of commentator which he held alongside for several years with Mike Sexton in the WPT commentary booth. Van Patten is the son of legendary actor Dick Van Patten (who also plays a role in the film) and has been seen in various Hollywood projects such as Baywatch, Rock and Roll High School and the Six Million Dollar Man. His wife Eileen Davidson said, “Everybody loves movies about Hollywood. You’ve got to write your story”.
The WPT who has been Van Patten’s long time employer has also co-produced the movie and will likely leverage its brand to showcase the film to the poker and gambling enthusiasts across the world.
