Top 7 Live Poker Victories of 2024


2024 is wrapping up, and the year has been exceptionally eventful for the poker industry, what with records being broken and new ones made – that also means some big pay-outs for poker players, in some cases, elevating them high on the popularity lists and buoying their finances within a matter of days. Gutshot Magazine has kept a tab on all the domestic and international major and minor poker tournaments.  In this article, we list the top live poker victories in 2024, according to the prize pools and the first prize winners.

The Top 7 Live Poker Victories of 2024

#1 Alejandro Lococo – $12,070,000 at WSOP Paradise  

WSOP Paradise wrapped up in late December, and it added one more name to the poker world records when Alejandro Lococo shipped the Triton Million event at WSOP Paradise 2024, taking home $12,070,000 and taking the coveted WSOP bracelet – his first one. His victory came at the first-ever Triton Million invitational event at WSOP Paradise, for which he bested a field of 50 entries. The total prize pool for this event was a mind-numbing  $48,000,000. 

#2 Jonathan Tamayo – $10,000,000 at WSOP 2024 Main Event

Jonathan Tamayo, the man from Humble, Texas, stunned the poker world and the financial one by shipping the WSOP Main Event in 2024, taking home $10,00,000 in July and a coveted bracelet. It all went down at the Horseshoe in Las Vegas, where 2nd on the list, Jordan Griff, took home $6,000,000. 

The two were involved in a heated and not to mention high-stakes heads-up match for the big prize. The total prize pool for this event was a staggering $94,041,600, and the total entries were an impressive 10,112. The 2024 WSOP Main Event had set another record – it was the largest field in Main Event history with 10,112 entries. In 2023, the number of entries was a then-record-breaking 10,043. 

#3 Yinan Zhou – $6,000,000 at WSOP Paradise Super Main Event

As the year ended, the World Series of Poker’s WSOP Paradise brought some more pleasant surprises to the fore, including Yinan Zhou winning a whopping $6,000,000 at the Super Main Event.  The ME had a $50 Million prize pool and had Zhou stood tall among more than 1,900 entries.

#4 Santhosh Suvarna – $5,415,152 at WSOP SHR

Santhosh Suvarna continues his exemplary runs in international poker tournaments, and this time, the two-time WSOP bracelet winner took part in the WSOP 2024 Super High Roller event, walking away with a stunning $5,415,152 at the Bracelet Event #55 of WSOP 2024, which was a Super High Roller event.

Suvarna shipped the event, which had a prize pool of 18,675,000, and saw 75 entries. Suvarna achieved the incredible feat after beating Ben Tollerene in a heads-up challenge.

#5 Wiktor Malinowski – $4,789,000 at Triton Poker

Wiktor Malinowski took home $4.7 Million at the Triton Poker Montenegro event, which attracted more than 90 entrants. He warded off to the top of an eight-handed Final Table, which included poker legends like Jason Koon, Steve O’Dwyer, and Nick Petrangelo to do the honours of the win.

#6 Mikalai Vaskaboinikau – $4,737,000 at Triton Poker Montenegro

A Super High Roller event promises some of the biggest high stakes, and they were no less at the Main Event of the  Triton Poker Super High Roller Series of 2024. The Main Event saw some of the biggest names in the poker industry at the felts, and Mikalai Vaskaboinikau of Belarus took home $4,737,000 from a total prize pool of $ 21,375,000, out of a total entries of 102.

#7 Roman Hrabec – $4,330,000 Triton Poker Jeju 

Several Asian locations are becoming some of the biggest names in the poker industry. Roman Hrabec’s win at the Triton Poker Series in Jeju in 2024 has helped add to the value of the sub-continent in the poker world. Hrabec shipped the High Roller event and took home $4,330,000, standing tall among 139 entries to take the lion’s share of the total prize pool of $ 21,600,000.

Ranking second on the Final Table was Jean-Noel Thorel of France, who took home $2,875,000.The money list was short enough, with only 39 players taking home any cash. The Final Table saw nine winners, and the least cashout at the FT was Alex Kulev of Bulgaria, who took home $451,000.
