Thursday Roundup: Raghav Bansal triumphs IOPC High Roller!


An action-packed week is heading towards the weekend and Thursday saw some massive guarantees of offer. The pace of the online activity picked up on Spartan Poker’s July 2020 INR 25 Crore GTD IOPC Day 8, PokerBaazi and PokerStars’ limelight series IMPS and Micro Millions are underway. IOPC #53 Ultron

One of the Thursday headliners on Spartan Poker was IOPC #53 Ultron INR 40 Lakhs GTD. The INR 4,400 buy-in event logged in an enormous 1,153 entries last night, striding well past the guarantee mark to create INR 46.12 Lakhs in prize pool. Poker pro Kunal Patni aka ‘TiltAtman’ took down the title to claim the first prize after defeating ‘Tiger10’ in heads-up. Spartan Team Pro Nikita Luther ‘Nikita Luther’ finished 3rd, Goonjan Mall aka ‘gmtesting’ followed next.

IOPC#54 High Roller

The biggest attraction across the online poker room last night was INR 55,000 buy-in IOPC #54 High Roller boasting a whopping INR 1 Crore GTD. The tourney recorded 223, successfully surpassing the guarantee and collecting INR 1.11 Crore in prize pool. Racing ahead of the rest was poker pro and 4th in India’s all-time money list Raghav Bansal aka ‘thatssosick’ who clinched to the hefty prize money after knocking out Pranav Bagai aka ‘Boller’ in heads-up.

Bansal took home a 7-digit-score! Aditya Agarwal aka ‘Yennefer’ settled in the third place, Arjun Agrawal aka ‘SirMuckAlot’ in fourth place, following next was Anant Purohit aka ‘Pro’ and Arjun Pasricha aka ‘lol this guy’. “As a casual player, it felt great to come second in a pro infested tourney. Obviously, I ran good, won some crucial flips in the mid stages. Lost to the beast Raghav Bansal in Heads Up, but I put up a great fight and played well, so I am super happy with this result,” said runner-up Bagai on his deep run in the tournament.

IOPC #55

At 9:30 pm, a total of 601 entries headed towards IOPC #55 INR 15 Lakhs GTD on Spartan Poker. This led in the creation of INR 18.03 Lakhs in prize pool. Top 55 spots secured a share while online regular Shardul Parthasarathi aka ‘Faucet Failure’ displayed his top form and emerged triumphant over the field after outlasting Sanat Mehrotra aka ‘avneed’ in heads-up. Parthasarathi grabbed the lion’s chunk of prize money along with the valuable IOPC title. The 2019 IOPC leaderboard winner Amit Sur aka ‘Immortal Killer’ settled in the 3rd place, Srihari Bang aka ‘bangbang99’ in the 4th place, Kanchan Sharma aka ‘Bubblegum’ finished 5th, Anmol Mehta aka ‘Anzzzzz’ followed next.

The Summit

PokerBaazi’s INR 20 Lakhs GTD The Summit collected INR 21.08 Lakhs in the prize pool from a field of 281 entries. Taking home back-to-back titles was Anirudh Reddy aka ‘flash1’ who came out on top after outlasting Shagun Jain aka ‘sogani22’ in heads-up for INR 4.66 Lakhs in top prize. On Wednesday, Reddy took down IOPC #48 Destiny INR 10L GTD. Jain secured INR 3.27 Lakhs for finishing second. Akshay Nasa aka ‘sherlock52’ finished third for INR 2.10 Lakhs followed by Sreekanth Narayan aka ‘n0thing’ who earned INR 1.56 Lakhs.

Thursday MonsterStack

Thursday night witnessed another tournament on PokerBaazi – INR 5 Lakhs GTD Thursday MonsterStack which attracted 184 entries. After 3 hours of grinding session, circuit reg Shravan Chhabria aka ‘FishStars’ outlasted Dinesh Kukreja aka ‘htc170209’ in heads-up and banked the top prize of INR 1.24 Lakhs. The latter went out with INR 87,150 for finishing in the second place. The top 21 players also ended up earning a min-cash.

The conqueror eliminated Arjanveer Chadha aka ‘arjan30’ in heads-up play who captured the second-place payout of INR 4.19 Lakhs. Also, money reached the top 63 places.

Highroller

PokerStars India hosted their Thursday flagship event that comfortably met its advertised guarantee. The popular INR 15 Lakhs GTD Highroller pulled in 209 runners, crowning a champion in Vivek Singh aka ‘Mystic Peaks’ who fired two bullets to take home INR 2.94 Lakhs in prize money. Singh defeated ‘TheSurmai’ in heads-up who secured INR 2.16 Lakhs.
