The 2018 World Series of Poker started over a month ago and Las Vegas has been buzzing with excitement ever since, with tens of thousands of poker players from around the world making their way down to Vegas to be a part of the WSOP 2018 festivities and go back home much richer.
78 gold bracelet events were scheduled during the 2018 World Series and we have completed around 60 events thus far, with a combination of poker pros and first-time winners receiving their bracelets and respective prize monies. So far, nine people have become millionaires and more will in the days to come.
The Main Event is always the major highlight of the World Series of Poker and we are just a few hours away from the start of the 2018 WSOP Main Event – a $10,000 buy-in tournament that will see thousands of entries and one player walking away as a multi-millionaire.
The tournament is scheduled between July 2-14, 2018 and poker pros from all over the world have been preparing for this one for months. There will be three days of starting flights (2,3,4 July) and we’re expecting a bigger participation than the 7,221 entries recorded last year. We’re expecting quite a few Indian players to be in the mix as well.
Scott Blumstein from USA won the Main Event last year, taking away a life changing prize of $8,150,000 for first place but we haven’t seen much of him since then, with just one small cash in the 2018 WSOP series so far. Will lightning strike twice? Or will a new winner be crowned?
Betting lines have opened on who will win the 2018 WSOP Main Event and some of the top favourites include all-time highest on the live poker winnings list, Daniel Negreanu, Phil Ivey, Martin Jacobson, Justin Bonomo (has had a fantastic year so far), Stephen Chidwick, Joe McKeehen and others.
Day 1A will begin a few hours from now and you can get all highlights on this major event on GutshotMagazine.com. Stay tuned!
