Teun Mulder Wins Event #2: $100,000 8-Handed for $1,940,000


Event #2: $100,000 NLH 8-Handed at the 2022 Triton Poker Cyprus ended with Teun Mulder emerging victorious. The Dutch player took down the event and took home $1,940,000 after beating fellow Dutch player Tom Vogelsang during a heads-up play. Vogelsang cashed $1,390,000 in second place.

The event was a high-roller tournament and witnessed 69 entrants generating a prize pool of $6,624,000. Pros such as Johan Guilbert, Mikita Badziakouski, Cary Katz, Sam Greenwood, Stephen Chidwick, Ben Heath, Chris Brewer, and Michael Addamo were also seen grinding at this tournament.

The top nine spots were paid out in the tournament. Hungarian player Andras Nemeth bubbled at the tenth place with his ace-five against Vogelsang, who hit a straight holding jack-six. Nemeth had earlier nailed Event #1: $50,000 NLH 6-Handed for $1,082,000.

The first casualty on the final table was 2021 GPI Player of the Year Ali Imsirovic. His ace-four fell short against Vogelsang’s ace-king. Imsirovic departed at the eighth place with a paycheque of $251,700. Vogelsang then eliminated Paul Phua at the seventh place for $324,500. Phua’s pocket tens were out-flopped by Vogelsang’s jack-ten.

Vogelsang’s busting spree continued when his QJ overpowered Soyza’s pocket tens on the flop to get a queen-pair. Soyza busted at the sixth place taking home $410,500 in prize winnings. Next in line was Daniel Dvoress who was eliminated at the fifth place for $529,000 by Jake Schindler. Mike Watson was the next to depart at the fourth place for $683,300.

Schindler’s ace-three eventually succumbed to Mulder’s Qs,Js on the board of Ac, 9h, 3c, 6d, 10c. Schindler pocketed $903,000 for the third place leaving the remaining two players for a heads-up.
