Team SoloMid Announces An All-Women Valorant Team

Professional esports organization, Team SoloMid (TSM) has announced that an all-women team would be added to its Valorant roster. With this addition to their line-up, TSM will join other esports organizations that are making an effort to diversify the gaming space.

The new team will participate in the upcoming Valorant Champions Tour Game Changers series. The new competition was launched by Riot Games. It’s an initiative to give marginalized genders more opportunities to compete in high-level competitions.

Catherine Leroux aka ‘Cath,’ Katherine So aka ‘LunarKats,’ Emily Peters aka ‘mle,’ Zoe Servais aka ‘mle,’ and Mirna Noureldin aka ‘Athxna’ are the players in the all-female team. Support for the new squad was pouring in from the partners of TSM like Cadillac, Logitech G and Lenovo.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) has been a game with some of the best women players. Riot Games are giving these players a chance to translate their skills to Valorant through these initiatives. Catherine Lerox, one of the members of the women team said, “I’m beyond excited to join a professional organization like TSM and bring my previous experience from CSGO into a fresh game like Valorant.”

“My competitive drive never left, and I’m looking forward to competing again under the TSM banner,” she added.

The inclusion of women into a male-dominated space like gaming is a step forward in the right direction. With new initiatives similar to this being taken up by other esports organizations, women talent in the gaming industry is being duly recognized. Counter Logic Gaming and Dignitas are organizations that are also giving women players professional-level support to compete in games like CS:GO and Valorant.
