Taiwan’s Luke Lee wins Master Poker Series ME


The Master Poker Series (MPS) & GPL China Season 2 Taiwan Tour began on 20th December, and rant till 24th at the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association in Taiwan. This was the first MPS ever and the 5-day live series was studded with many exciting tournaments which had reasonable buy-ins.

The MPS Main Event had a buy-in of NTD 3,300 (~INR 7,534). Two satellites were also hosted for the Main Event on Dec 20 and Dec 21. From  a total of 108 runners for the Main Event, the champion was declared on the final day of the series, Dec 24.

The player to emerge victorious was Taiwan’s very own Luke Lee, taking home NTD 364,560 (~INR 8.32 Lakhs) as 1st place cash prize. Along with this, he was also the proud owner of the stunning Champions Trophy and an exclusive Master Poker Series Ring.

The Main Event’s Final Table was live streamed on the CTPClub Twitch Channel and a lot of players from around the world tuned in to witness the action in Taiwan in real-time.

The Final Table of 9 began at 6pm local time on the final day and was in the books after just 3 and a half hours of gameplay. The sole woman on the table, Hsiao Tsui Han, and the eventual champion Lee were eliminating players on the table quickly at the start. Han is a known player who also hails from Taiwan and has plenty of recorded live cash outs in Taiwan and Manila as well.

First to be eliminated by Han was another Taiwanese Tzu Wei Wang. Han had Ad Qd over Wang’s As 10c. She immediately took the chip lead with this. Next to fall out was Jun Zhou who had Kc 9d against Lee’s pocket Nines. The next one to succumb to Han’s blow was Chen Wei Hsun. Lee also made an elimination right after that by kicking out Vincent Li at 6th place.

After two eliminations each to their names, Han and Lee were looking at skyscrapers of chips, Lee being slightly ahead. The next big battle happened between these two and the shorter stacked players took a backseat to watch the action. Han 3-bet with pocket Jacks. Lee shoved all in with his pocket Sevens and Han snap-called. The board came to 6h 5d 7d 3c 8s, landing trips Seven for Lee and eliminating Han at 5th place.

With Lee amassing 65% of the total chips, the gameplay went exactly as expected. Lee took down Cheli Lin at 4th place and Po Hao Liao got crippled by Huang Chang Hau at 3rd place. The heads-up battle lasted for only one hand, and Lee made Huang settle for 2nd place and NTD 250,000.
