Swedish DJ Avicii Dies, Aged 28

The best always seem to go too soon!

Swedish musician and DJ Tim Bergling, better known by his stage name Avicii, was found dead on Friday afternoon in Oman, aged just 28 years. His publicist Diana Baron said in a statement: “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii. The family is devastated, and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time.”

He was one of the biggest names in EDM (Electronic Dance Music) and the world will deeply mourn this loss. The cause of death was not officially released but Avicii was said to have been sick for over 2 years now, which forced him to stop touring a couple of years back.

He announced his retirement from touring in 2016, mostly because of health issues, including a gall bladder and appendix being removed in 2014. It is said that the music producer and DJ suffered from acute pancreatitis in the past, in part due to excessive drinking.

The music industry was shocked at this news that came out last night. Fans and those who had associated themselves with Avicii in the past, expressed their grief on social media:

Liam Payne“Oh my god truly devastated for Avicii  very very sad news way to young … what a talent he was. rest in peace x”

Zedd“No words can describe the sadness I’m feeling right now, hearing about Avicii passing away…. Thoughts go out to his family and friends…”

Martin Garrix“Can’t really describe in words how sad I feel right now.. thank you for inspiring me and millions others. RIP @Avicii ? “

David Guetta: “Something really horrible happened. We lost a friend with such a beautiful heart and the world lost an incredibly talented musician. Thank you for your beautiful melodies, the time we shared in the studio, playing together as djs or just enjoying life as friends. RIP @Avicii”

Nicky Romero”Dear Tim, I can’t believe what I just heard, you have gone way to early, there are no words to describe how I feel now, I am thankful for all the great moments we got to spent together; and thankful for all the things I got to learn from you. The world will miss you. I hope you find peace now?? ~ R.I.P Avicii”
