Sumit Sapra wins Mega Freeze at Spartan Poker

Professional poker player Sumit ‘mrgr33n’ Sapra outlasted 114 entries in the last night’s INR 5 lakhs GTD Mega Freeze tournament for top prize of INR 1,43,412 for The Spartan Poker. This is the second win in the same tournament for Sapra this month. On 1st May, he had shipped the Mega Stack for a payday of INR 2,41,202. Apart from these online wins, Sapra has made some big scores in the live space as well; be it on a domestic level, in Asia or across the world. Sapra recently claimed a Platinum Pass worth $30,000 at at PokerStars Players Championship (PSPC) which will see him making his way to the Bahamas early next year to play in the 2019 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure series (PCA) in January.

Sapra spoke to GutshotMagazine.com earlier today, “I managed to come back twice from being down to under 10 big blinds. At the start of the FT, as the shortest stack, it was not easy. But managed to find a double up and after that, it was smooth sailing. It was a good heads-up match. I just ran good in the HU and managed to get value from my big hands. The field was good and I’d love to see some more freezeout tournaments with bigger buy-ins.”

He outlasted Kartik ‘TheInternetKid’ Ved in the final round of the tournament who is also very renowned poker player on the circuit. Ved collected INR 96,900 for his second place finish. He is a regular player on Spartan and recently shipped the Sunday Speedster tournament as well for INR 1,04,420. Speaking about his run in the tournament, Ved said, “TheSpartanPoker is offering the best-guaranteed tournaments, leaderboards and more. A fun environment overall for all tournament lovers!”

In the final hand of the tournament in Level #37 with blinds running 8,000-16,000-2,000 where TheInternetKid had 9h Qd and mrgr33n was holding 3s 3h. Pre-flop action saw both the players going all-in and pushing their chips into the middle. The showdown saw 8d 7h 4h 8h Kc on the board which gave two pairs, Eights and Threes to mrgr33n and the title.
