Earlier in the year (February), the Sports Betting & Gaming India (SBGI) summit was hosted in Goa by Eventus International. The global event-producing company held that conference to spark a debate among the top influencers and stakeholders of sports betting and gambling in India, with the idea of its legalization floating in India.
After the success of that first conference, the organizers have now scheduled the second edition of this gaming summit, but it will not be called SBGI this time around. The rebranded Strategic Platform for iGaming Conference and Exhibition (SPICE) has been scheduled for 26th and 27th February 2019, in Goa again.
The exhibition will discuss the impact and opportunities that comes with clear and well-defined legalized gambling in India. Another main matter of discussion will be the various investment opportunities in online skill gaming as well as in brick and mortar casinos across the country.
Managing Director at Eventus International, Yudi Soetjiptadi, had this to say about the second edition of this conference – “After the successful SBGI summit and exhibition last year, we hope to continue the dialogue with SPICE, which we hope will be received as a constructive initiative, presenting an opportunity to both the Indian government and regulator and the gambling and gaming industry.”
Other topics of discussion at the conference will be structuring of gaming businesses and foreign investments, responsible gambling, player protection and the socio-economic and financial benefits of the legalization of gambling in India. The idea of legalization took a massive blow with the latest recommendation of a complete ban by the Law Commission of India. However, with the general elections coming up in 2019, a case for new policies could be made and this conference gives top industry members a chance to discuss the same.
