Shardul Parthasarathi climbs The Summit on PokerBaazi

This player seems to love playing on PokerBaazi, and we should say, winning on PokerBaazi too. We’re talking about Shardul Parthasarathi, who has been making several deep runs on this platform in recent months, along with a couple of major featured tournament titles as well this month.

Looks like all the poker practice and studying for the Mumbai-based player is now bearing fruit. At the start of this month, Parthasarathi took down The Vegas on PokerBaazi for a decent first-place cash and now he’s got an even bigger score for shipping an even bigger tournament – INR 10 lakh GTD The Summit MonsterStack Turbo.

The Summit happens to be an extremely popular tournament on PokerBaazi and even with a high buy-in of INR 8,250, the guarantee of this competition is always beaten. Last night was no different, kicking off at the scheduled time of 8pm and attracting a field of 198 entries, which inflated the prize pool all the way up to INR 14.85 lakh.

From these, the top 17 finishers were paid out a minimum cash prize of INR 29,700 with a few PokerBaazi regulars finishing in the money. Some of the names to cash out included Neeraj Kumar aka ‘SelfClaimedPro’ (15th), Vinay B aka ‘Vinstill’ (11th), and Kartik Ved aka ‘TheInternetKid’ (7th), but apart from these, a lot of unknown players were a part of the field.

Parthasarathi is an Electronics and Instrumentation Engineer from VIT, Vellore, and the 26-year old took home the biggest prize of the night yesterday, shipping the tournament for INR 3,56,400. It all came to an end at 2:48am this morning after a grind of nearly 7 hours, when he beat ‘Stonecold’ in heads-up, with the latter taking away the runner-up prize of INR 2,52,450.

When he spoke to Parthasarathi, we congratulated him and asked him about the victory. He said, “Thanks. There were a lot of regs playing when the top 25 were left. ‘stringbet710’ (Nikhil Sayilen) and ‘gangajal’ (Aditya Sushant) were two guys who always had a massive stack throughout. However, the FT was pretty soft. Heads-up was very long though, lasting almost an hour. I started as underdog 1:4 behind in chips but managed a recovery to ship it.”
