Santhosh Suvarna Wins Maiden EPT Title In €25K NL Hold’em


Santhosh Suvarna established his supremacy yet again by shipping the €25,000 NL Hold’em VI event at the European Poker Tour (EPT) Paris 2024. The Indian-origin player won his career-first EPT trophy in the €25,000 NL Hold’em VI event and added a sum of €348,860 to his bankroll for his first place finish. The pro emerged victorious from a player field of 43 entries and made India proud. 

Santhosh Suvarna Ships First-Ever EPT Title

The poker pro who has been grabbing headlines with his spectacular play in India and abroad defeated Samuel Ju in heads up to claim the top title. The German runner-up had a payday of €227,600. The final table also had names like Sam Greenwood (6th, €70,800) and Chris Brewer (4th, €116,300).

Sirzat Hissou was the unfortunate bubble boy in the €25,000 NL Hold’em VI event. When Suvarna rivered a gutshot it led to Hissou’s elimination without a dime for his efforts. Action got intense and Suvarna’s game was in top gear as he claimed another victim in the form of Sam Greenwood.

The World Series Of Poker Europe (WSOPE) bracelet winner’s AQ ended Greenwood’s deep run despite holding better hole cards (AK) than his opponent when the turn presented a Queen. Viacheslav Buldygin left in fifth position after losing a considerable amount of chips in back-to-back hands. His last big blind went to Jamil Wakil. Buldygin took home a pay cheque of €91,000. 

Chris Brewer was sent packing in the fourth place by Wakil after the former was left short stacked in the game. Despite claiming both Buldygin and Brewer’s stacks, the first player to finish in podium position was Wakil’s K7 was considered a favourite against the Suvarna’s Q9. But the latter made two pairs and showed Wakil the exit door. 

Final Hand Of €25,000 NL Hold’em VI

At Level 24, blinds 50K/100K, big blind ante 100K, Suvarna shoved from the button position and his heads-up rival, his last 340,000, made the call.

  • Santhosh Suvarna: 1010♠

The board ran out 62♣J♠57 and gave Suvarna his first-ever EPT trophy.
