Samuel Dessaix-Porter wins APL Million for A$247,500

Samuel Dessaix-Porter emerged victorious in the Australian Poker League Million in Star Poker Room in Sydney competing with players from across the country to not only win a package for the next WSOP but also a large piece of the 1 Million dollars guaranteed for this Main Event. The four-day event saw 1,041 entries putting up the buy-in of A$1,500. The huge number of entries crushed the guarantee and made a prizepool of A$1,300,000. Top 108 players took a share of this prizepool.

At the end of the tournament, heads-up battle saw Dessaix-Porter and Ben Veale in the final round. On the last hand, Dessaix-Porter hit trips on the river to capture the title and the first-place prize of A$247,500.

Day 3 of the tournament saw the final 27 players with Dessaix-Porter sitting in second position after Luke Martinelli at first place. Martinelli ended up at 13th place in the tournament. Another player was Philippine player Jensen Chow who rounded off the top 3 with a 3rd place finish.
