As per the latest news reports, three-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) champion Sammy Farha was involved in a physical altercation at Leagues Poker Room in Houston, Texas. If the news reports are anything to go by, Farha wasn’t on the winning side. Reports of a confrontation first surfaced on a Facebook page called ‘A Prominent Houston Poker Live’ last week.
According to a dealer who worked in the poker room, the poker pro got into a verbal fight with a former dealer who goes by the name ‘AJ’ (also referred to as ‘MJ’ and ‘Amjad). It has been reported that the two had a longstanding feud with each other, which began in another poker room called Johnny Chan’s 88 Social.

AJ used to reportedly work at Johnny Chan’s 88 poker room until Farha allegedly got him fired. Last week, however, the argument turned ugly after AJ slapped Farha and shoved him to the wall after shouting, “I’m from Detroit, b****, we don’t play around.” As per news reports, , AJ had had enough of Farha bad-mouthing him and lunged at the 2003 WSOP runnerup.
Other players along with the management immediately attempted to break up the fight. Towards the end, both of them were asked to leave the poker club. A dealer from the Legends Poker Room reporteldy said, “The truth is AJ got himself fired (from 88 Social) for mouthing off to Sammy, even though Sammy was being a douche as always.”

One source reportedly mentioned, “I was told that Farha and the dealer had a verbal altercation some weeks ago. Due to this, the dealer was fired. He showed up that day to play and when Farha saw him, he said that it was a problem for him to be there. The dealer heard what was said by Farha and confronted him. Words were exchanged, and he slapped him. Farha ran behind the floor guy and said something else, and the guy tried to smack him again, but didn’t get a clean shot. I also heard that all the dealers stood and applauded when it happened.”
Many people on Facebook sided with AJ and believed that Farha got what he deserved. Other dealers on the scene reportedly commented that not many dealers liked Farha. A GoFundMe was even started to raise $20,000 to fund AJ’s legal fees that might arise due to the incident.
A day after the incident, Farha was reportedly standing outside the Legends Poker Room with a police officer while attempting to file a complaint. If a complaint is filed against AJ, there are many who are reportedly willing to bail him out.
