Sajan Raj Kurup From Ventureland Asia Invests $1 Million In Revenant Esports


Ventureland Asia, an investment firm headed by Sajan Raj Kurup has invested $1 million in gaming firm Revenant Esports. With this investment, Kurup has gained a 40% stake in the gaming company. 

Revenant Esports is a platform for content creators and gamers. The start-up has more than 25 well-known esports athletes who play Call of Duty Mobile: Battle Royale, Clash of Clans, FreeFire, and Call of Duty Mobile: Multiplayer. Currently, the platform has more than 15,000 active gamers and boasts of 20,000 hours of watch time. 

While talking about the deal, Kurup said, “Esports gaming is booming in the country now and especially during current times when indoor gaming has picked up significantly. Revenant Esports was set up by Rohit Naresh, an avid gamer who is from a business background and I truly believe that it is a great deal to build a gaming company in India.”

He further added, “We will mainly focus on getting more players on the platform, to build IPs, stage tournaments on television and entirely capture the growth of tier-II markets. In the next 18 months our goal is to build Revenant into a ₹150 crore company.”

Rohit Naresh Jagasia, founder and CEO of Revenant Esports said, “We aim to aggressively grow in competitive esports, virtual/offline content and events as well. The brand also looks forward to launching an esports tournament management platform. Along with this, we are also in talks with several television broadcasters for telecasting esports tournaments.” 

As per industry estimates, the viewership of esports in the country has doubled to 17 million in 2020. Along with viewership, the prize pools have also grown by a staggering 25-30%. For the first time, esports has been recognized as a medal sport by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) for Asian Games 2022.
