Sachin Joshi: Who Is This Indian Origin Player Who Finished 13th At WSOP 2023 ME?


All eyes were on the World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2023 Main Event as it neared its conclusion. Two Indian players made a splash at the coveted tournament. Nikita Luther and Anirban Das. Luther finished 96th for $78,900 and Das made history by having the best run ever by an Indian at WSOP ME. 

He finished 16th for $430,200. But there is also Sachin Joshi, a player of Indian origin who finished 13th for a payday of $535,000. Joshi who was born in England has quite the poker resume. 

Joshi, first recorded finish in a poker tournament came from the £100 + 10 No Limit Hold’em 100 Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) London Leg 1, London. Here he finished 10th for £ 270 ($ 384). Next few finishes came from poker tournaments hosted in London.

In October 2017, Joshi took the runner-up spot in the £400 + 40 No Limit Hold’em – PokerStars Megastack High Roller at the PokerStars Megastack London. For his second place finish he took home £ 4,103 ($ 5,398).

This Indian-origin player then moved on to play at the World Poker Tour. He played at the €400 No Limit Hold’em – WPTDS Opener (8-Max) at the WPTDeepStacks (WPTDS) Brussels. Joshi took the 13th spot for €1,250 ($ 1,379).

Joshi’s first recorded appearance at the WSOP came in 2021. He played the Mini Main Event and finished 501st for $1,600. Joshi then moved to European Poker Tour (EPT). The England native played the €5,300 No Limit Hold’em Main Event (Event #16) and took the 39th position for a payday of €24,650 ($ 26,341).

Joshi played the $1,500 No Limit Hold’em – Millionaire Maker. Here he finished 194th for $ 9,279. He also participated in the $3,000 No Limit Hold’em Freezeout. Joshi took the 51st place for $ 13,637. Finally, came the Main Event where he made quite the headway with his 13th place finish.
