Rooter’s latest Esports Feature witnesses 50k+ game streamers

Rooter, one of India’s biggest Sports Community platforms launched a revolutionary gaming and esports streaming feature on its app in early May. The feature was developed internally within just 4-5 weeks of the lockdown, as online gaming was increasing in demand due to the pandemic. The streaming tool allows users to stream any game through the app, be it your mobile or personal computer, with the best audio-video quality.

Giving a voice to millions of fans across sports and gaming, the features allows personalizing gaming content and now has as many as 50k plus game streamers. Adding more than 1.8 to 2 million downloads on the Rooter app in less than a month since streaming launch, Rooter is driving to become the category leader for the gaming community in India.

One of the key reasons for Rooter’s growth in the gaming space has been because of its focus on the south Indian market. It is in the process of getting more than 50 percent of new users from the south of India, hence almost all prominent gaming streamers are from this region. With a lot of its existing streamers are from hindi speaking belts, the platform has successfully managed to scale on the back of its tech infrastructure.

Rooter is planning to launch multiple layers of features on the app to create a broader community of gamers. This will enable anyone from the community to host tournaments on the app. Even though Rooter is competing against a Chinese app called Nimo TV and Indian contenders like Loco and Rheo TV, the platform has managed to grow faster than most of them in the past one month. The platform is aiming to have a 5 million monthly user base by the time IPL begins in mid-September.

Speaking on the growing success of the new feature, Piyush Agarwal, Founder of Rooter said, “The pandemic gave us a wonderful opportunity to prepone our eSports and gaming plan and launch our tech in record time with one of the best features in terms of scale and experience. So, far we have been successfully creating a community in sports and now progressing to make it big in the gaming space. This has helped us in positioning Rooter as one of the most sought after content platforms in India, which is entertaining a diverse audience of gamers and sports fans in the country.”

Rooter, which literally means a ‘Sports Fan’, was founded by Piyush and Dipesh Agarwal in 2016. Its core objective was to connect fans, thereby building a strong community. The platform was largely built around Live Sports Gaming during its infancy before it pivoted content. In a span of four years, it has cemented its stance as the only Indian Sports Platform, which comprises content developed by users and professionals.
