The Big Daddy tournament is one of the gems of the week on The Spartan Poker, taking place at 4pm each Sunday. Yesterday’s tournament drew a total of 225 unique players, 37 re-entries and 158 re-buys, with the prize pool eventually being shared between the top 36 players (min-cash – INR 3,250).
As yesterday’s field whittled down to the final few, there were very few known names still in contention which gave many lesser known players the chance to shine. One of them turned out to be Ritesh ‘ritesh5812’ Tripathi, who beat the field and took home INR 1,00,000 for first place, along with a free trip to play poker in Goa, which includes to and fro flight tickets, accommodation, and entry to the Big Daddy Poker Room in Goa.
The tournament ended at Level #38 yesterday with 15,000/30,000 blinds and 3,000 ante. In the final hand, Tripathi had pocket nines and his opponent had Ace-Deuce. Tripathi went all in pre-flop, and his opponent called. He flopped a set and won the pot after his opponent missed everything.
After almost a 5-hour grind and defeating a challenging set of players at the final table, Tripathi took away all the fame and glory, and will soon be heading to Goa as well. Gutshot asked him what the tournament victory means to him and he said, “It feels great to win such a major tournament, especially when I played poker after a while.”
While Tripathi has had bigger wins in the past, this one was still among one of his biggest wins, overcoming some good players on the Final Table. He said, “There were 2 or 3 good players on the Final Table. I don’t remember their names exactly, but it was a tough FT.”
Talking about his preparations for the trip to Goa and his future plans in poker, he said, “I am very excited for the Goa trip. I’m looking forward to some good poker experience there. In the future too, I will continue playing Spartan online tournaments as they have some very exciting tournaments coming up.”
