Ritam Bhattacharya ships Adda52 Gayle Storm 4.0

Adda52 is the most established brands among their competition in the Indian online poker scenario. The have a strong presence all year round, hosting numerous tournaments offering hefty sums to top finishers.

Earlier this year, Adda52 signed the cricket superstar and ace batsman Chris Gayle as the brand ambassador, followed by the announcement of a new tournament called Gayle Storm, to celebrate the brand-new addition to their team. The inaugural Gayle Storm (1.0) had a massive amount of INR 50 Lakhs in guaranteed prize pool and became an instant success. The second and third editions of the tournament saw Rahul Melwani and Sanish Chhabra shipping it respectively.

The much-anticipated Gayle Storm 4.0 is also in the books. The tournament was hosted by Adda52 on 9th December and had a prize pool of INR 50 Lakhs. 350+ tickets were intermittently being given out every day leading up to the day of the tournament.

The player to ship the 4th edition was Kolkata’s Ritam Bhattacharya, playing under the ‘RitamB’ handle on Adda52. Bhattacharya beat an enormous field of 1,617 entries to ship this iconic tournament. He took home a staggering pay-check of INR 7,18,166 as 1st place cash prize.

The 23-year old champion used to play poker in school but had taken a hiatus from the game just after leaving college. But the aura of this beautiful game didn’t fade away completely from his mind and it drew him back to it after 4 years. His dedication for poker was so strong that he decided to play all the key tournaments on Adda52. He began with smaller stakes tourneys to improve his bankroll and eventually levelled up for bigger ones.

Bhattacharya had just recently discovered Adda52 and was playing on the platform since a couple of months. When Gutshot got in touch him, he was elated beyond words. He elaborated on this career best finish, saying, “I have been in the online tournament circuit for the last 2-3 months and this win gave me a major boost. It was a very tough field and I had to be very patient and look for the right spots. I remember losing a major pot with QQ vs AK and was down to 59 when 80 entries remained. It became a bit tight after that but I built my way up to the final table as second in chips. After that it was domination nation for me.”

This win is surely a happy culmination of all the efforts and sleepless nights he has grinded online to make up his bankroll. We at Gutshot hope he uses the money to play in more upcoming high-stakes tournaments and ships it there too. Beating a field of over fifteen hundred entries to ship a feature tournament like this is a clear indication of how sharply Bhattacharya has developed his skill-set over the years.
