Resorts World to Open Largest New York Casino

For the region of Catskills, New York, a 40-year old wait for a full-scale casino is finally about to come to an end. The Catskill Mountains, also known as just Catskills, is an area located in south-eastern New York that was once a booming tourist region; people who wanted to head to the mountains generally went to Catskills.

Now, Resorts World Catskills is prepared to launch its casino in Catskills next month, which will be the largest casino in New York. Yesterday, Resorts World Catskills announced that they will be opening the doors to its $1 billion facility on 8th February 2018, earlier than its earlier scheduled opening date of 1st March. Ryan Eller, President of Resorts World Catskills, said this in a statement:

“Our staff has worked tirelessly to ensure that when we open our doors for the first time, we will be ready to provide our guests an unparalleled experience.”

The casino obtained a gambling license from the Gaming Commission in 2014 and will become the fourth and final upstate casino to get a license to open. The facility is a massive one which will have 150 table games and 2,150 slot machines, to go with numerous clubs and restaurants. The resort will also include 332 luxury rooms, an entertainment village, a water-park lodge and an 18-hole golf course. The water-park will open in early 2019.

Resorts World is a hospitality and casino brand that is owned by Genting Group based in Malaysia, and they are already running several casino-resorts around the world like Resorts World Manila, Resorts World Sentosa and many others. This casino will be looking at a much better performance than the other three casinos that opened in New York in the past year.

Rivers Casino in Schenectady, del Lago Casino in the Finger Lakes and Tioga Downs in the Southern Tier are the other three New York casinos, all of which have performed below expectations. The Catskills casino is set to be open to customers for 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, also reportedly bringing around 1,400 employment opportunities to the region.
