‘ReDut’ wins massive top prize in SSS Highroller

The ongoing Spartan Super Series (SSS) is all about the massive top prizes and high-value tournaments, and that’s why it has become one of India’s most favourite online poker series in recent times. This time too, the schedule featured quite a few big tournaments, including SSS Event #15: INR 40 lakh GTD HighRoller.

The guarantee of this event was pretty high itself, but the participation that was witnessed last night on The Spartan Poker led to an even greater prize pool, with 256 entries joining in total. The tournament had an extremely steep buy-in of INR 27,500 but that didn’t stop people from playing, creating a massive prize pool of INR 55,25,000.

Now such a big tournament is bound to attract big players, and that’s exactly what happened. From the field that entered only 21 could be paid out a minimum cash of INR 69,062, but for those who ran very deep on the night, much bigger prizes were awaiting. From the many pros in the mix, it was ‘ReDut’ who eventually made it to heads-up with Anirban Das aka ‘pokernoob’.

Now Das needs no introduction, with plenty of online wins in his career, including the featured tournament he had won a couple of nights ago on the opening day of the SSS. However, last night was not about Das, as it was ReDut who took away the jumbo top prize of INR 13,26,000 for winning the tournament.

While many players took away 6-figure prizes, ReDut was the only to collect a 7-figure amount, making a very big bankroll addition last night. Having first generated a 5:1 chip lead in heads-up, ReDut managed to takes down the title after Das shoved all-in pre-flop with Qd Jd and he made the call with pocket Eights.

The board rolled out Board 6d 7s 6c 5h Ts and Das was unable to get a double up that he required to stay in the hunt, busting out in 2nd place for a pretty handsome INR 8,97,813. Even for a player who wins so often online, this was quite a massive pay-check. As for ReDut, big wins aren’t new to him either, having also ended as one of the winners in October’s 5 For 5 tournament.
