Randy Lew quits PokerStars Team Online

The worldwide poker giant PokerStars saw another well-known pro Randy Lew quit the brand’s Team Online yesterday. Lew was already a gaming aficionado before focussing on online poker full time. He is best known for putting in crazy amounts of volume on the client, sometimes even playing up-to 24 tables simultaneously.

He made over $2.6 million multi-tabling on PokerStars. After he quit the brand, Lew shared some personal thoughts on Twitter this week saying, “Coming from a traditional Chinese background, I would say that poker as a profession in clearly taboo especially for a kid who just got graduated from university. Long story short, my parents never knew I played poker for about 10 years!

The 33-year old player became a PokerStars Pro in December 2009, at the ripe young age of 23, and grabbed the spotlight, even if he didn’t ask for it. He said, “I wanted to protect myself from the perceived ‘negativity’ poker had. I liked poker for the game, the competition, and the freedom. I was incognito because I didn’t want to be involved with the perceived ‘degen’ things such as prop-betting at every opportunity, spending lavishly on material things or simply put, treating money with no respect.” A man clearly of sound morals.

Finally, he parted with PokerStars on a good note and said in his elaborate 2-part tweet, “PokerStars has done many great things growing the poker space. I thank them for my time there as I stepped into the limelight for the very first time. Now it’s time to grow up and take that leap of faith again. Now is the time to feel free. I’m ready to step into the unknown and do what I want to do. I will play poker when I want to play poker. I will be nanonoko.

He also mentioned that he set foot into Twitch streaming before but didn’t find home there and even appreciated the streamers who are able pull it off successfully. Lew’s life is now a white canvas and only time will tell how he decides to paint it. Keep reading GutshotMagazine.com for more such poker news from around the world.
