Rajesh Singh takes down Spartan’s Mega Stack tourney

Mega Stack INR 12 lakh GTD tournament has become a weekly part of every poker player’s schedule, taking place at 7:30pm every Tuesday night on The Spartan Poker. With a buy-in of INR 3,300, another edition kicked off last night and once again, the promised guarantee was thrown out of the equation.

A total of 497 entries had joined by the end of the late registration period and this led to a better an increased prize pool of INR 14.91 lakh being generated. The top 47 finishers on the night were eventually paid out with a minimum cash prize of INR 8,499 and among them were a number of known Spartan regulars.

Among the known finishers in the tournament were Rajat Mahajan aka ‘BloatedBelly’ who finished 12th for INR 22k and Kanishka Samant aka ‘Wildflower’ who ended a good run in 5th place for INR 88k. However, the night and the title all belonged to Rajesh Singh aka ‘RULS’ on Spartan, powering through every other opponent to win the tournament last night.

Finishing second was Ankur Kumar aka ‘FLOPZILA’, who has won on Spartan in the past, once shipping an SSS title in August. In third place was ‘asizone’ who is also a past SSS winner, shipping SSS Event #29 in October. These players agreed on a 3-way deal last night to put the tournament to bed.

Singh was considerably ahead before the final hand of the tournament, with 6.4 million in chips as compared to the other two, neither of who had passed 2 million in chips. However, Ankur Kumar won a big pot of nearly 1.2 million which considerably reduced the gap and led to the players striking a deal.

Singh was still ahead in chips, so he was declared the winner of the tournament, with the top prize of INR 2,42,335 being credited to his Spartan balance. The second-place prize money of INR 1,90,770 went to Kumar while asizone was the shortest stacked at the time, winning INR 1,80,440 in prize money for finishing third.

When we spoke to Singh regarding this victory, he told us that he has been playing since a few years now on Spartan, while also playing on a few other platforms. He said, “I think Spartan is one of the best when it comes to online tournaments. I thank them for the opportunities they provide to poker enthusiasts like me to showcase our skills.”

Speaking about yesterday’s tournament which saw him making a healthy bankroll addition, Singh said, “I enjoy playing on Spartan and I feel my patience and perseverance finally paid off as far this tournament goes. On a lighter note, let’s not forget about the luck we need at flips at the fag end of any tournament. Thank you.”
