Spartan Poker is lined up with myriads of tournaments and yesterday was dedicated to another Sunday SuperStack INR 25 Lakhs GTD, the platform’s biggest weekly tournament. The event unfailingly attracts a large field and winners go home with enormous cash prizes each Sunday.
Last night’s Sunday SuperStack attracted a field of 521 entries. The buy-in for the tournament was set at INR 5,500 and eventually, the guaranteed amount was surpassed to create a prize pool of INR 26 Lakhs to be shared among the top 47 places receiving a minimum amount of INR 14,848. Raghav Bansal under the username ‘thatssosick’ is a regular online grinder, and he aced the tournament and finished on top.
With blinds 60,000/120,000 ante 12,000 in Level #49 in the final hand, Bansal (7h 7s) was leading with 7.4 million chips against Siddharth Mundada aka ‘Sidddhu’ (Kc Qd) with 5.5 million. Pre-flop, the latter puts his entire chips stack in the middle and got a call of 4.5 million from the former. The board opens 2c Jh 5d 5h Jd and ultimately, Bansal wins and collects the pot, triumphing the tournament with two higher pair of JJ77 while Mundada settled for runner-up prize for his JJ55.
Bansal is a top poker pro of the country sitting in the 4th position in India’s All-Time money list and total live earnings of $1+ million. Always under the limelight for winning across major poker sites, Bansal has added one more feather to his poker cap. As for Mundada, he has been doing well in recent times, having also won the IPC 10k Freezeout last month in Goa.
The size of the field was vast, and so was the glamour in the previous night’s tournament. Some of the notable players include Ashish Ahuja aka ‘Spewushhhiiiii’ (4th), Varun Gupta aka ‘VG92’ (8th), Meet Jariwala aka ‘mjpokerfan’ (10th), Raman Gujral aka ‘tathagat’ (11th), Arvind Halaharvi aka ‘FloatTheBoat’ (12th), Kartik Ved aka ‘TheInternetKid’ (22nd), Ajivit Jaiwal aka ‘tyler2643’ (28th), Apratim Sharma aka ‘checm@te’ (36th), Sumit Silwal aka ‘pleasedontbet’ (47th) and so on.
As for bansal, the achievement is even more special as he has made the FT in four consecutive Sunday SuperStack tournaments now, having also won the SSS edition SuperStack three weeks ago. When we caught up with the player, he said, “Last 2 weeks, I FT’ed the tournament as well but couldn’t close. 4 back to back SuperStack FTs now and 2 wins is pretty sick though, haha. ‘Sidddhu’ had a masssive lead throughout so I had to limp a lot and play smalller pots in general due to ICM. He started HU with a 3:1 lead but luckily I got the win.”
