PUBG To Make A Comeback Or Not?

PUBG: As per news reports, Krafton Inc. are in talks with the Indian government with respect to the relaunch of PUBG in the country. They are currently waiting for the go-ahead from the government, states the news reports. This news comes amidst rumours that the Indian edition of PUBG mobile has been cancelled.

However, the Indian government has made it clear that there was no formal dialogue between them and the creators of PUBG, Krafton Inc. As per their response, there was no formal initiation of the process and have denied all rumours regarding a scheduled meeting for the same.

India is one of the largest markets for PUBG mobile and its permanent exit from the country could be a major blow to the company. While PUBG tries to make a comeback, gamers in the country were introduced to FAU-G, a homegrown app that many believe to be PUBG’s biggest rival. Although there was much fanfare about FAU-G, it received mixed reviews from players.

Recently, it was announced that a second version of PUBG will soon be released. In January, reports from a Korean publication made headlines as it revealed that the development of PUBG 2 has been confirmed. But unfortunately, gamers in India will be missing out on this new version due to the ban.

The Indian gaming market is picking up speed and till the time PUBG makes its comeback, other brands will look to dominate the market. The PUBG ban has only given more opportunities to international and domestic developers to gain more ground in the country. It has also generated a new interest in the industry with investments worth USD 554 million being pumped into the gaming sector.

Krafton Inc. has also reportedly hired new employees in its Indian team. Some of the new members are Akash Jumde – visual content designer, Piyush Agarwal – finance manager, Arpita Priyadarshini – senior community manager, and Karan Pathak – senior esports manager.
