Prasit Chowdhury Leads Final Table of WPT India 2023 Main Event

What a day it has been at the 2023 WPT Prime India Main Event. Multiple tournaments were running simultaneously at the Deltin Royale poker room in Goa, including the prestigious Main Event, the Highroller, and the Mini Main Event Freezeout. And while it was exciting for all the players in the room, the Main Event obviously grabbed the most number of eyeballs.

The day started with 108 cumulative survivors from the three flights Day 1A, 1B, and 1C. And while eliminations were happening quick and fast earlier on, it got super tight in the final few levels of the day. As planned, the event was to play down to the final table before returning for Day 3 tomorrow (17th April 2023), and that’s exactly how it panned out eventually.

Once down to the final two tables, Deepak Singh was the chip leader by a long, long way. From there, eliminations happened quite slowly on these tables. Some of the last few bust-outs for the night were Vinod Megalmani in 12th place (₹6,85,000), Vivek Singh in 11th place (₹6,85,000), and Anil Adiani in 10th place (₹8,60,000).

And when the players bagged and tagged for the night, it was Prasith Chowdhury who was announced the official chip leader, with a massive stack of 4.18 mllion to his name. He’ll go to sleep tonight happy but also nervous as Day 3 will be super important for him, with all eyes on the whopping top prize of ₹86+ Lakh, along with a $10,400 entry to the WPT World Championship later this year in Las Vegas.

There’s everything to play for but Chowdhury will not be going into Day 3 without strong competition. Also on the final table are the likes of WSOP bracelet winner Abhinav Iyer with a stack of 3.8 million chips, while poker veteran Jaydeep Dawer will also be competing for the WPT India Main Event title. None of the past WPT India Main Event winners are in contention (Ashish Munot, Nikunj Jhunjhunwala, Vikash Mantri).

WPT India 2023 Main Event final table:

  1. Prasit Chowdhury – 4.18 million chips

  7. Kiran Bondu – 2.02 million chips
  8. Soham Pal – 1.3 million chips

It’s a massive day for everyone on this final table as there are life-changing amounts up for grabs in Goa. Day 3 will begin at 13:00 IST on 17th April and we will play down to a winner.
