PokerStars India to Start Operations on 17 April 2018

A couple of weeks back, PokerStars announced their partnership with Indian gaming/lottery giant Sugal & Damani Group to facilitate the launch of the Indian PokerStars website – www.pokerstars.in. Until a couple of hours back, the website only read ‘Coming Soon’, but we now have more news regarding the launch of the PokerStars India website.

The website has finally been updated and the major update coming in from them is that the they will begin operations on 17th April 2018. This is arguably the biggest poker company in the world, and Indian poker players will be eager to play on their platform, once it launches.

Apart from mentioning the launch date, PokerStars has also mentioned that they will be beginning with a special, INR 10 lakh freeroll tournament, which will take place on 22nd April, at 5pm. We’re expecting thousands of players to be a part of this special freeroll organized to celebrate the launch of PokerStars India. They have also given users the chance to enter their email addresses and be notified of all updates on PokerStars India, including early bird registrations to early bird freerolls, worth INR 3 lakh.

They mentioned that the website will be for Indian residents only. This was followed up with an individual email (see pic below) sent out to all Indian players who hold PokerStars.com accounts informing them that their .COM user account will no longer be available for use on the .COM website. However players will be able to withdraw their balances and claim any outstanding bonuses/rewards even after the 17 April deactivation deadline.

While a link to download the PokerStars client or smartphone app is not available yet, links have been added to the PokerStars India Facebook page and the PokerStars India Twitter account. They mentioned that ‘PokerStars’, the ‘Spade logo’ and all other trademarks are property of Rational Intellectual Holdings Limited (RIHL), which can be used by Sachiko Gaming Private Limited under license.

A little under three weeks remain for the launch of the PokerStars India website, which thousands of players across the country are eagerly awaiting. You can catch all updates and developments on the launch of this website, here on GutshotMagazine.com!
