‘pokerbill’ wins big in The Elite SSS Edition

Day 5 of the Spartan Super Series (SSS) was played yesterday, and several players walked away much richer than how they began the day. One of the tournaments to be played yesterday was The Elite, which is contested every Friday by some of the best poker players across the country.

As the name suggests, the tournament is made for poker’s elite group of players, with a steep buy-in of INR 27,500, but equally big prizes for those making deep runs. SSS Event #25 The Elite INR 35 Lakh GTD kicked off at 7:30pm IST and the guarantee was pumped up for the SSS, but was still smashed.

A total of 207 entries registered to the tournament and a whopping prize pool of INR 51.75 lakh was created, which was shared by the top 21 players, with a minimum cash prize of INR 64,688. After a long grind of 9 hours and 15 minutes, the tournament finally came to an end, with ‘pokerbill’ outlasting the field and being awarded a huge prize amount of INR 12,42,000.

Finishing in second place was none other than Vivek Rughani aka ‘Pokerbatman27’, who was awarded INR 8,40,938 for his effort. He has made a few deep runs in this series so far, also finishing second to ‘omgrachelgreen’ in the SSS PLO HighRoller. He finished Day 5 at #6 on the SSS Leaderboard.

The winner pokerbill has also been a regular feature on final tables on The Spartan Poker in recent times, while also shipping The Elite a couple of months back and finishing second in the same tournament just a couple of weeks back. The player seems to really like this particular featured tournament on Spartan!

He had a 2:1 chip lead over Rughani coming into the final hand and hit two pairs – Nines and Sixes in what became the final hand of the tournament. Another popular player Anirban Das aka ‘pokernoob’ made a deep run in the tournament, eventually finishing third for INR 5.56 lakh. Jayjit Ray aka ‘David Blaine’ also made a good run, finishing 5th for INR 3.18 lakh, after shipping a tournament earlier in the day.
