Thursday Roundup: Shagun Jain, Yohan Patel, Neel Joshi and Dhinesh Kumar Grab The Top Spots

As the weekend full of big tournaments is approaching, poker pros were seen practicing and polishing their best poker skills on Thursday night, and winning huge pots, of course. The online felts witnessed action-packed and full of drama. Guarantees as hefty as 40 Lakh were on offer. Well-known names in poker like Shagun Jain, Yohan Patel, Neel Joshi and Dhinesh Kumar. Here are some of the biggest tournaments of the Thursday night:

Summer Series – 93 (Super Highroller) – ₹40 Lakh GTD

PokerStar’s Summer Series – 93 was one of the biggest tournaments of the night with a guarantee of  ₹40 Lakh. The ₹27,500 buy-in tournament attracted 136 entries who played their best game of poker to get a taste of the massive prize pool. However, only the top 17 places were paid a min-cash of ₹66,060.

Shagun Jain aka ‘Sogani22’ topped the table adding ₹ 8,39,608 to his bankroll. Jain is one of the well-known names at the final tables. He has a history of winning a massive prize of ₹40 Lakh at PokerBaazi’s GameChanger 2.0. ‘ThePokerRajaIN’ cashed ₹6,52,191 in the runner-up position, while Sanish Chhabra aka ‘sneakysani,’ another popular name in the poker circuit, had a pay day of ₹5,06,610 at the third spot.

DOPT Thursday Feature – ₹30 Lakh GTD

Adda52 was also bustling with action as poker players strived hard to win. The tournament witnessed 558 entries with the top 63 places being paid a min-cash of ₹12,750. 

Yohan Patel aka ‘AllInMaestro’ emerged victorious from a pool of 558 entries. He cashed the highest prize money of ₹7,05,000. Neeraj Bajaj aka ‘NEERAJ2828’ had a payday of ₹4,11,000 as he finished as the runner-up. The third spot was claimed by ‘raviambasta,’ who cashed ₹2,73,000. Fourth place went to Vaibhav Roy aka ‘vroy219,’ who took a pay cheque of ₹2,10,000. Roy had topped the table on Adda 52’s THE BALLERS tournament last week. WSOP bracelet winner Nikita Luther was also fighting for the top spot, however she ended up at the 21st spot and cashed ₹2,10,000.

Deepak Bothra aka ‘bothras’ who shipped  Wednesday’s DOPT PKO Bounty tournament on Adda52 finished at the 34th position on Thursday. He walked away with ₹1,65,000 in prize money. Aniket Waghmare, IOPC Millionaire Legends and Mastermind winner took ₹15,000 in prize money at the 39th spot. Laksh Pal Singh (43rd, ₹15,000), WSOP bracelet winner Aditya Sushant (44th, ₹15,000), Sanish Chhabra (46th, ₹15,000), Gaurav Sood (47th, ₹15,000), Ritwik Khanna (54th, ₹12,750), Surbhit Grover (57th, ₹12,750), Aman Parakh (58th, ₹12,750), and Srihari Bang (61st, ₹12,750) were also some of the notable poker pros who were battling it out rigorously.

Trending Thursday – ₹25 Lakh GTD

Spartan Poker’s Trending Thursday was indeed a trending affair among the poker players. The ₹25 Lakh tournament attracted 577 entries to its virtual felts. Top 47 places were paid the min-cash of ₹14,250.

Neel Joshi aka ‘Worm33’ managed to win the tourney and added ₹4,87,250 to his bankroll. Joshi is another pro name in the poker world, who’s got some incredible wins to his credit. He toppled WSOP bracelet winner Abhinav Iyer aka ‘hightr0ller’, who ended at the runner-up position with ₹3,09,500. The third spot saw ‘Asymptote’ grab ₹2,32,000 in prize money. Rajeev Kumar couldn’t make hay while the sun was shining as he re-entered twice yet ended up getting bubbled.

Kumar witnessed a winning streak last week when he nailed ₹8,65,504 at Spartan Poker’s The Big Deal and ₹5,22,536 (runner-up) at Spartan Poker’s The Elite. Aman Parakh (15th, ₹33,250), Shardul Parthasarathi (20th, ₹25,750), Guruprasad Gupta (24th, ₹20,750), Akshay Asawa (25th, ₹20,750), Gaurav Sood (27th, ₹20,750), Vishnu Khandelwal (32nd, ₹16,000), Peter Nazareth (34th, ₹16,000), Surbhit Grover (41st, ₹14,250) and  Vivek Singh (44th, ₹14,250) also made some bucks at this tournament. 

Other poker pros who were playing at this tournament but got busted before reaching the top 47 included Siddhanth Kripalani(49th), Goonjan Mall(54th), Vishal Bajaj (60th), Manish Lakhotia (68th), Vivekk Dube (71st), Kunal Patni (75th), Sanat Mehrotra (82nd), Vinayak Bajaj (93rd), Sanish Chhabra (99th), WSOP bracelet winner Kartik Ved (104th), Ankit Wadhawan (118th), and Laksh Pal Singh (161st) among others.

Monster Stack – ₹9.5 Lakh GTD

The initial ₹9.5 Lakh guarantee of Spartan Poker’s Monster Stack was surpassed and the final prize pool stood at ₹10,76,000. The tournament saw 547 entries and many well-known names from the poker circuit were battling it out for the top spot. The top 47 places were paid a min-cash of ₹6,133.

Anonymous player ‘Obliviate’ and Swapnil S aka ‘moneydream’ got into a deal wherein Obliviate took home ₹1,73,179 in prize money and Swapnil took a pay cheque of ₹1,69,741. Vivekk Dube aka ‘MI7’ grabbed the third spot with the highest five-figure winnings of ₹99,852. WSOP bracelet winner Kartik Ved aka ‘TheInternetKid,’ who was also a part of the final table busted at the ninth spot for ₹21,520. Kunal Patni (16th, ₹12,696), Gaurav Sood (19th, ₹11,082) and Sanat Mehrotra (45th, ₹6,133) were also fighting for the top spot but unfortunately couldn’t make the cut.

The Summit – ₹15 Lakh GTD

The Summit tournament on PokerBaazi witnessed some poker heavyweights slogging it out. The tournament’s initial guarantee was crushed and finally the prize pool stood at ₹19.73 Lakh. The tourney had 263 entries competing to grab a piece of the prize pool. The top 36 places managed to get a min-cash of ₹13,410.

Dhinesh Kumar aka ‘dhineshrocky007’ won the tournament after re-entering twice. Kumar took a pay cheque of ₹4.36 Lakh. Abhishek Rathod finished as runner-up and cashed ₹3.06 Lakh. Rathod also entered the tournament twice. The third place saw Akshay Asawa aka ‘powershell’ adding ₹1.97 Lakh to his bankroll.

Poker pros like Kunal Patni(4th, ₹1.46 Lakh), Vaibhav Sharma (28th, ₹13,410), Sanat Mehrotra (31st, ₹13,410), Ankit Modi (32nd, ₹13,40), Manish Lakhotia (34th, ₹13,410) and Myron Pereira (36th, ₹13,410) made money despite stiff competition. It was a rather fortunate night for Sanish Chhabra who cashed ₹26,040 at the 14th position at this tournament and managed to be the second runner-up at PokerStars Summer Series-93 tournament for ₹5,06,610. Additionally, Chhabra finished at the 46th spot on Adda52’s DOPT Thursday feature for ₹15,000.
