Poker Player Kat De Sol Passes Away In New Delhi

As per the latest news report, poker player Kat De Sol passed away in New Delhi on 21st March 2023. The Indian poker fraternity was deeply saddened by the news of Sol’s sudden demise. Sol, who was from Sweden reportedly died due to a cardiac arrest which was triggered by underlying health issues. As the news of Sol’s demise came to light, prayers and condolences started pouring in from close friends and members of the poker fraternity. 

Kat De Sol’s journey in poker

Not many know that Kat was a recreational poker player who was a forex trader from Sweden. She reportedly got into poker while running a start-up based in Los Angeles. The female poker player who was known to be a free-spirited personality had made her mark in the Indian poker circuit with her skills. Sol, who was introduced to poker by a family friend and ended up playing a lot of Zynga Poker, also played cash games but preferred playing tournaments the most.

In the past, while speaking to PokerGuru about her journey in the Indian poker circuit, Sol revealed that she did not have any formal training in poker but watched and learnt from people who played the game. She also revealed that Deltin invited her to one of their casinos and that’s when she visited a casino for the first time in India. For the unversed, Sol had also participated in Deltin Poker Tournament (DPT) Xpress February 2020 and reportedly had a good run.  

Sol had mentioned in one of her interviews what she felt about the Indian poker industry. She added that everyone knew every other person from the circuit and how it felt like a college reunion during those live tournaments. Sol made sure to add that the warmth and friendliness of the people is the best part of the Indian poker circuit.
