Poker Dictionary – Jacks To Open

Poker is a versatile game that has several variants. While some variants such as Omaha, Chinese poker, Pineapple poker are well-known, certain games like jacks to open are still not known to the masses. Today, we will be looking at learning about Jacks To Open. This game is played like a 5-card draw game. The only catch is that the game does not start until a person who has a hand as good as a pair of jacks or better starts the betting round.

If no player receives such cards, the hand is discarded, and everyone pools in again, and the cards are redealt. Once the betting starts, the gameplay continues in the style of 5 card draw until the showdown. This means, a pair of jacks or better cards are required to start betting. The better cards include a pair of queens, kings, or aces. Any player who has three of a kind or better can win the game.
