Phil Hellmuth And Steph Curry To Play Poker For Charity

Phil Hellmuth along with National Basketball Association (NBA) player Steph Curry and the entire basketball team of Golden State Warriors will participate in a $10,000 buy-in charity poker tournament. The event will take place at St. Regis Hotel in San Francisco on 5th February to raise money for the Warriors Community Foundation which is a non-profit organization that supports education and youth development.

The tournament has a re-buy feature which is worth $10,000. There will also be an amateur tournament that has a $5,000 buy-in on the same day. Hellmuth said that all the players on the team will buy into the charity from their own pockets.

It turns out that poker is a popular side hobby for many players in the team. Draymond Green and Curry are one among them. Hellmuth has also developed a friendship with the players. Chamath Palihapitiya, a part-owner of the Warriors team is an avid poker player and has even appeared on the show Poker After Dark.

Hellmuth often competes with players in the area and also mentioned that he was quite impressed with their performance on the poker felts. “Without question, Draymond Green is the best poker player in the NBA. He’s a great poker player and works hard at it,” said Hellmuth.

However, it turns out that Green is not the only skilled player when it comes to poker. “Steph Curry’s a good poker player too. He’s probably the second-best poker player in the NBA,” said the 16-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner.

This is not the only time Hellmuth has used poker to raise money for charity. He even has a goal of raising over $100 million in this lifetime for various charities out of which he has raised around $60 million in donations that he’s had a role in.
