Phil Hellmuth And Jason Koon To Lock Horns For $1,600,000

Poker pros Phil Hellmuth and Jason Koon are all set to compete in the largest High Stakes Duel (HSD) match ever. The two pros will come under one roof at PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas on Wednesday, 7th December, 2022, at 8 PM ET to battle it out in a $1,600,000 match.

The match will include five rounds, of which Round 5 of High Stakes Duel 3 match will be broadcasted exclusively on PokerGO on Wednesday, 7th December, 2022, at 8 PM ET. The 16-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner Hellmuth has so far been the king of High Stakes Duel ever since the show premiered in July 2020.

He won his first High Stakes Duel championship belt after defeating Antonio Esfandiari in three straight rounds of High Stakes Duel I. Post that the pro went on to beat Daniel Negreanu in three straight rounds of High Stakes Duel II to wrap a second title belt.

Even though the High Stakes Duel 3 championship belt is still up for grabs, Hellmuth has already won three of the four rounds played till date. He first beat sports media personality Nick Wright. After that he lost the first of two rounds to Tom Dwan, but came back stronger to defeat ‘durrrr’ in Round 3. In Round 4 Hellmuth topped Scott Seiver. If he manages to win in Round 5 he’ll have the option to walk away with his third High Stakes Duel championship belt.

According to the rules of PokerGO’s High Stakes Duel, the stakes double with each round. A player can walk away as a winner only if he / she wins three consecutive matches prior to Round 4 or at least two consecutive matches starting Round 4.

If Koon wins this round, the competition would be pushed to Round 6 which will have $3,200,000 at stake with Hellmuth having the first right to a rematch. Looking at the current scenario, one thing is sure, that the match will witness some amazing fireworks as the two top pros lock horns.
